The University of Alaska Museum of the North will host the world premiere of Auksalaq [awk-sah-LOCK], a multimedia opera performed simultaneously in several locations, including Fairbanks, Washington D.C., Norway and Quebec, Monday, October 29th, from 1-3 p.m. A discussion will follow.

Composer Matthew Burtner and media artist Scott Deal created Auksalaq, which is the Inupiaq word for melting snow or ice. The work integrates artistic expression, scientific information and social commentary about global climate change.
